Come to the Council Meeting!
It's crucial Councillors know that many people object to the proposal for our park.
There is no pressure to speak at the meeting, but attendance numbers matter!
Wednesday 19 September, 6:30pm. Suggest arriving 30-60 mins earlier to be sure of getting a seat.
Brighton Town Hall, Cnr Carpenter St and Wilson St, Brighton, but check this page a few days before for any changes.
Nearby streets (check restrictions), or public car park off Wilson St.
Want to speak?
If you want to have your say you will be in good company!
You must apply to speak ("to be heard") at the meeting before 11pm, Tuesday 18 Sept.
When applying to speak, you are usually required to nominate the Agenda Item Number and Item Name. However, given this is a Special meeting it is uncertain if this will apply. The agenda should be available HERE on Council's website on 12 September.
The applications to speak must be made HERE on Council's web site after the Agenda is published.
If you are in any doubt about the process, or if you want to coordinate your speech with others, please email the organisers of the Save Elsternwick Community Park group - email@example.com or call 0435 085 032
Tips for speaking
Remember you will only be allowed to speak for up to 3 minutes - not a second longer.
Rehearse your speech! Time yourself actually saying what you intend to say on the night.
It may be wise to familiarise yourself with Council Meetings and how they are conducted, HERE is a link to a Council document about this.Home
